I love outsider stories. Growing up in Japan, Singapore, DC, and Russia, I was constantly given the task to suss out who I was in new places. Now, I feel at home voicing characters in unfamiliar worlds—the peasant girl with strange powers, the housewife facing an alien in her living room, the mother resisting an oppressive regime. I speak conversational Russian and can do a legit Russian accent (no Boris and Natasha here!).
When I finish reading a book, the first thing I want to do is talk to someone about it; to process it, to share in the emotional release. Audiobooks make that connection possible in real time. I love being the conduit between author and listener.
